A proper BLT with lots of crisp bacon, juicy tomatoes, fresh lettuce, and mayonnaise on soft lightly toasted bread that stays in the background instead of dominating the sandwich.

Cook the bacon until deeply crisp, then drain it well so it stays crunchy in the sandwich. Slice the tomatoes and season them lightly with salt and black pepper.
Lightly toast soft white bread. Use the kind of bread that stays quiet in the background so you taste the bacon, tomato, and lettuce first, not the bread itself. Spread mayonnaise generously on both sides.
Layer lettuce, plenty of tomato, and lots of crispy bacon, then close the sandwich, press gently, and cut in half. Serve immediately while the contrast between crisp bacon, juicy tomato, and cool lettuce is still sharp.
